Literacy-Council is a wikispace for members of the IU #12 Literacy Advisory Council group to share documents and resources.
Mission Statement: The LIU Literacy Council believes that learners will demonstrateindependence bychoosing to read and seek answers for a varietyof purposes and audiences. Studentswill meet and exceed grade level standards of content knowledge as demonstrated onrigorous performance tasksand real life applications. Learners will be able to critiqueand evaluate a variety of texts and respond to the varying demands of audience, task,purpose,and discipline. Additionally, the LIU Literacy Council will support the infusionof technology and digital media into classroom instruction for students to strategically andcapably access and share information in a collaborative environment. To this end, the LIULiteracy Council members will provide resourcesand opportunities for students to viewliteracy through a variety of perspectives and cultural experiences.
In 2012-2013 the Literacy Advisory Council will join the Math Leadership Network in Content Area Leader Webinars. The first two webinars are scheduled for October 30th and November 20th beginning at 9:00 AM. PDE initiatives and participant genrated topics of discussion will drive the meeting agenda. Please send agena topics to Carrie at casoliday@iu12.org and register with Bobby via bkdillman@iu12.org.
